Linda Durec was recently the Co-chair of the Commercial Alliance Committee and a member on the Grievance Committee for MainStreet Association of Realtors. She had been an active real estate broker for Century 21 T.K. Realty for 17 years. At the beginning of 2020, Linda decided to become part of the Sperry family, obtained her managing broker’s license, formed a LLC and will currently operate as Sperry – LD Real Estate focusing on commercial transactions. Her educational background includes a BA degree from Northeastern Illinois University in History minoring in Business. Linda is now in her second career having retired as a flight attendant with United Air lines and returned to real estate in 2003. She has been a licensed in real estate since 1980. While preferring to specialize in commercial transactions, Linda does take a handful of residential referrals and still participates in some residential transactions. This flight attendant background served very well in transactions requiring empathy and she is generally referred those residential and commercial clients that are experiencing a high level of emotional distress. She has also been a court appointed real estate broker during a very tumultuous divorce and has been a court appointed receiver on a commercial plaza.
Recognizing that Century 21 is traditionally known as a residential real estate company and needing commercial credibility, Linda decided to work toward the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) and earned that designation in 2010. Additionally, Linda relates especially well to commercial investors because of her personal experience owning commercial investment real estate. Linda and her husband, Mike, have owned apartment buildings, small commercial strip centers, and currently still own a 26,000 SF office building. Linda has had past experience being a court appointed receiver for a commercial plaza in DuPage County. She currently manages a family owned commercial building near DePaul University in Chicago and is proud to have one of the most profitable Starbucks locations in Chicago. Linda is most proud of two land developments in Addison, one block on Lake Street/Mill Road that is currently a Chase Bank and small strip plaza. The other is the new Woodspring Suites. In both of these land developments, Linda represented the sellers. In addition to participating on the Commercial Alliance Committee and the Grievance Committee for Mainstreet, she was also an elected trustee for the Addison Public Library for 18 years.
